I’m part academic, part soldier, and part policy-wonk. I was born in Boston, grew up in DC, returned to Boston for undergrad and then spent several years roaming around the country (and Iraq) with the Army, all before returning here several years ago for grad school. Professionally, my interests lie in the defense and foreign policy arena, but I enjoy the give-and-take of Washington political intrigue more generally. Outside of work, I’m a fan of the outdoors and a bit of an exercise nut, although I hate watching professional sports. I’m also a bit of a culture buff. I love the Folger Shakespeare Theater, the Kennedy Center and the myriad of other cultural activities DC has to offer. Perhaps, above all, I’m an intellectual: I love getting together with small groups of friends, talking about whatever they are reading, researching, or writing about--be it politics, history or whatever the issue of the day happens to be. And for what it’s worth, that’s me in a nutshell.
