Grew up in North Carolina, went to college outside of Boston, and am finishing up my last year of law school. I've been in the district for five years and am lucky to have a great network of friends in this city.
I enjoy cooking for a crowd, nights in with good friends or a movie, and late nights that end with belting out Journey at karaoke (sidenote: my singing skills are not impressive). I'm usually happier in a dive bar than a club, but enjoy being fancy from time to time.
You're likely to find me cooking for/with friends, swimming, studying in a coffee shop, running in Rock Creek Park, having a beer at the Red Derby, listening to live music, or baking -- cakes are my specialty. I get most of my news from the New York Times, my life advice from Dear Prudence (on Slate), my interesting stories from This American Life, and my recipes from assorted cooking blogs. I generally prefer playing sports to watching them on TV but, like any North Carolinean, I realize the importance of watching the Carolina-Duke game and have been known to put together a March Madness pool.
