Oscar Wilde wrote-“I adore simple pleasures. As human beings we seek to be happy. We look to meet others who will “make” us happy and we work very hard to achieve what we think will bring us happiness. But we seem to be on a lifelong quest to find something that is elusive. We say, I would be happy. In the meantime, we overlook all the little opportunities for happiness that come to us each day."
Currently, among my Simplest Pleasures at the moment are the 4 Cherubs in Bethesda and West Bloomfield. Maybe a little hand extended to help them along the way, as my late wife and I did many years ago to their parents. Or, perhaps, it is the pleasure of reading the same beautiful story "Good Night Moon" to another generation, as I have done recently. Oh! The Sweetness of that Simple Pleasure as I savory the Moment reflecingt on what was and what will be.
Friends and I go out for dinner/ concerts .Or maybe it is just celebrating the Jewish Holidays, or Friday night services. But then there are the other simple pleasures, a calendar, both present and future of plays, concerts, etc. that give me new experiences and those Simple Pleasures.
Last Summer, my Family of 9: my daughter and son’s families, and my Boston family of 8 were together for a week in Sea Pines, SC..It reaffirms once again what "Simple Pleasures" families are and will continue to be! In 2015, it's the OuterBank.
So if you have a Sense of Adventure, can stand on a ladder to reach NEW Heights, if your baggage doesn't go over the limit, if you have the gift of gab, if you love romance and reaching beyond the Mundane, relish delving into new EXPERIENCES with the excitement and feeling that Love brings, Welcome!.
No Pollyanna am I, as my family and I have our share of adversity.
But I learn something New daily. It may be observing my daughter and son's lives continue to unfold, or watching, "The Apples of My Eyes" my 4 young grandchildren-2 to 6 years discovering the World. And yes, there are also the simple pleasures of good friends experiencing the arts, cinema, music, fine dining and the Jewish Holidays.
Having a voracious appetite for new knowledge, mention something that kindles my curiosity, and, like or not, I, with Google as my friend, do my due diligence. I'm not good with plain "Yes" or "No" answers. Many say I should have taken up law, but knowing full well. I would risk losing the jury to zzzzzs because of the constant questioning.
