Have you ever heard of the Alchemist? It’s a story of a boy who embarks on a long journey for a hidden treasure, only to find that the treasure was actually at home! I ask because it’s one of my favorite books, written by my favorite author, and resembles my life up until today. I too was on a search for meaning, traveling across the world, looking for it in every culture besides my own. I was particularly fascinated by Spanish and Latin American cultures - you could find me at a soccer game in Barcelona, dancing the tango in Argentina, or in my kitchen serving seafood paella.
It was on a trip to Israel, about two years ago, that I began to see the sparkle in Judaism and realized that it was the treasure I had been searching for. Today, you will find me outdoors - hiking, biking, and snowboarding. Indoors, you will find me cooking, doing yoga, and walking around museums. The only difference is that I am now on a new journey, and looking for the captain of my ship.
