About Me

In my dream world, I would have a summer place in Maine and a winter place in Costa Rica. But while striving for that goal, I have swum with dolphins off the coast of New Zealand, and encountered a grizzly on a trail in Glacier National Park. I have performed in a drumming group at a wedding in Japan, and fished for piranha in the Peruvian Amazon. From Bali to Belize, and from London to Moscow, I have been fortunate to have travelled a great deal... and I can't get enough. Next big trip hopefully -- an African safari or a trip to Borneo.I have a goofy streak -- I think a certain amount of goofiness can be a good thing. I can be adventurous -- whether it is heading off to teach in Japan for two years in a small rural town after having taken a 3-week crash course in Japanese or taking a leave of absence from a previous job as the Director of Research at a small energy and environmental consulting firm to do campaign work in Pittsburgh for 2 months, I can embrace new challenges. I also tend to be passionate about my interests -- I'm very interested (but a bit cynical) about politics, I love the outdoors, rainforests, and snorkelling, and am a bit of a Springsteen freak. (I host an annual Ode to Springsteen holiday fiesta where folks are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite song lyric or anything Jersey-related.)I tend to be attracted to folks who have a sense of humor. Ideally, I'm looking for someone who would be my best friend who I also lust for. Someone who shares some (but not all) of my interests. On a more superficial level, I can be blown away by a great smile and a great laugh.
