About Me
Grew up in Arizona and moved out East for college and graduate school and have been here ever since. I've been in DC for a while now, although I sort of miss the big open spaces of the West. To make up for my nature deficit, I go trail-running in Rock Creek Park whenever I can.
I'm an observer, I like paying attention to trends, and I'm really interested in understanding cultural change and how communities manage conflict and maintain balance. In high school, I had a mild obsession with the cultural history of the 1970s, and, in college, with the period around World War I.
I love learning and I like getting to the bottom of things. Few things make me happier than understanding how things work and seeing the world in a new way. I tend to ask a lot of questions.
I also love all types of art, but especially music. I play in a band with some great guys, writing original songs and performing around DC. I have a weakness for impulsively buying new albums on iTunes.
I am very lucky to have a supportive family and lots of close friendships, although many of them are scattered all over the country.
