About Me
I love to read and see great movies I'm a fan of the beach (as in by the ocean the sound is second best, the lake a distant third) I'm about as far left as you can get without being a socialist (and sometimes I'm a socialist). I'm passionate about my son, who is 14 and mildly autistic. I'm fairly active, but have Rhuematoid Arthritis and can't do things like downhill skiing or mountain climbing. Not that I would have done the latter with healthy joints. I'm always up for a walk in the woods or taking the dog for a romp on the beach, though.
I know most people don't like to admit it, but I like television -- two types: the good writing type like Raising Hope, Modern Family, and Dexter, and the irreverent stuff like Chelsey Lately and The Soup. I'm not-so-secretly in love with Jon Stewart. I'm a huge Mariners fan and have developed several ulcers because of them.
I love to cook and don't share my kitchen well, but am willing to try to learn, particularly if you can teach me proper knife skills. If you really want to be in charge of dinner, let's go out. Although I'll probably have opinions on where to go. Actually, I have opinions about most everything. But I'm always interested in listening to others and am driven by an often insatiable curiosity . About everything (I'm a journalist: the only job where being nosy is a real asset!).
My real religion is "bookism" (or is it readerism?) and I'd love to find someone who enjoys reading and thinks going to a bookstore can be a hot date. I'm looking for someone funny, inquisitive, clever, understanding, flexible (not physically, although it's fine if you are), with a love of language (the English one, but you can be a polyglot, too) and an understanding that at any Jewish family dinner, there are at least twice as many conversations going on as there are people.
