I'm a straightforward down-to-earth person who tries not to take herself too seriously. I find the humor in most situations, knowing that life is too short to waste not appreciating and enjoying it. My main career was with the Defense Department. After retiring from there, I did a number of different things and, most recently, retired from MD state government where I was an IT manager for several years. While I miss the challenge and sense of purpose of full time work, I’m managing to keep busy with part-time work and volunteer activities – some for fun, some more like work! My favorite vacations are skiing trips in the Western U.S., but I can’t pretend to be a good skier. I spend most of my time looking for cruising blues. In the summer, I love the Inner Banks of N.C. I have not traveled a lot internationally and would love to do more of that. For short getaways, I like Maryland’s Eastern Shore and other areas in the mid-Atlantic where you can stay in restored inns, browse in old-towns, and enjoy mountains or water. I enjoy living in the Baltimore-Washington -NoVA-Annapolis area. I love performances at the Meyerhof and sometimes the Kennedy Center, walking around and browsing shops in Annapolis, Old Town Alexandria, Georgetown, and Baltimore’s Charles Street – and boating on the Bay, of course. If I sound like I like simple pleasures, it's because I really do - with one exception: politics is a strong interest for me. But even there, keeping one’s sense of humor is important to me. While I don't have children of my own, I have a wonderful step-family. The qualities I most admire in a man are humor, intellect, and integrity. Whether still in a career or retired, it's important that he be engaged in whatever is important to him at this stage of his life - interests that he cares about, enjoys talking about and perhaps sharing.
