Hi, I'm Marc, and I'm a journalist living on the North Side. I grew up in north suburban Vernon Hills, went to the University of Maryland (a fine Big Ten institution...) and moved back to town this summer after earning my master's at the U of I in Springfield.
The newspaper I work for focuses on Chicago's legal field, and I'm the paper's courthouse correspondent where I cover court cases and local politics. It's lots of fun!
I'm a talkative, animated guy, and I try not to take myself too seriously most of the time. While a big sports fan, I've always made for a better spectator than athlete — but that's never stopped me from trying. Until actual statistics prove otherwise, I claim the all-time record for getting hit by pitches in Vernon Hills' little league baseball. (I had to get on base somehow!)
Since moving to the city, I've made it an effort to explore as much as I can. I love trying out new restaurants, browsing festivals, miscellaneous people-watching, and doing touristy things. I'm not ashamed to cruise the streets on a Divvy bike or in my Scion xB (that drunk people always hail thinking it's a taxi).
I'll spare you additional details here, but I'm happy to share plenty more!
