About Me

I am a thoughtful, kind caring person. I am somewhat sensitive and shy, but once people get to know me I am quite engaging and like to make others laugh. Sharing tenderness and intimate moments makes me happy. I approach my relationships with compassion and understanding that we all must have the freedom to make mistakes and that we all need to be forgiven for our mistakes at some time. I do expect that mistakes should result in learning and accepting responsibility.I believe that durable relationships are built on trust and chemistry. Chemistry is something we have no control over (aside from good hygiene and healthy behaviors!). Trust is another matter. In exploring issues of how we learn to trust each other, I was shocked to find that one of the great impediments to being able to build trust with another was learning to trust myself. As long as I had self doubt, I could not act in a way that was trustworthy to others. Now, it's a fine line between arrogance and self-assuredness, and remaining open to "teaching moments" that result in continued growth remains a huge challenge. One of the keys here as well as with other issues, is to accept the fact that mistakes will be made, and must be accepted. Having a good life is a process, not a goal.Current books I am reading: The Happiness Hypothesis
