About Me
I am KIND, CARING, FOREVER LOYAL and FIERCLY FAITHFUL. I am also HIGHLY CREATIVE and am as HONEST as the DAY IS LONG. Friends tell me that I am a great conversationalist and story teller. I enjoy laughing and making others laugh and have a dry sense of humor. I'm PASSIONATE and COMPASSIONATE.
I have been retired for over 17 years. With my well earned freedom, I did some interesting and satisfying things. My most recognized accomplishmet has been my translation from the Hebrew to the English of two of the most significant works of the greatest Talmudist, Jewish Philosopher and Theologian of the 20th century (Rabbi, Dr. Joseph Solovetichik) The books are--Listen My Beloved Knocks published by Yeshiva University (YU) in 2006 and Ma Dodcha M'dod (tentatively entitled Uncle) to be published by YU later this year. Google: "Listen My Beloved Knocks - Gordon" and you will find 900 entries on the site. I am presently compiling a book of my own original thoughts on the Bible, an anthology of my own short stories and a short story which I have just adapted as a screenplay.
I lecture and teach on various subjects.
Over a two year period, I directly raised $20 million for a worthy Israeli charity. I was for several years the New York City Metropolitan Chariman for UJA and the Bronx Chairman for Isreal Bonds. I was a trustee of the Stern College School for Women.
I enjoy travel and have visted some interesting places.
Before retirement I was a corporate securities and real estste lawyer and at times even functioned as an investment banker. I received my LAW degree and my MBA simultaneously from Columbia University. I was only the tenth person to do so.
I like to attend plays, concerts, the ballet and sporting events. Museums are also high on my list. I was a very serious tennis (college team teaching pro), and softball player.
