What do I want to communicate “about me”?
I try to live my life with as much laughter as possible. It fills the air with the most beautiful sound.
I have traveled some, both far and near, but not nearly as much as I'd like. I would love to revisit Tuscany (or any Italy), and Spain and Hawaii where I have yet to visit. Lived in Thailand (Peace Corps) for a few years........ and am again feeling the wanderlust bug. But I would like to have a buddy/partner in crime along.
Books…I tend toward good fiction (totally subjective). Non-fiction-any and all books about the brain (new discoveries, anything by Oliver Sachs) and books like Freakonomics etc. etc.
Music....most and, of course, folk. I have sung in a chorus. Just got a uke and am loving the challenge....do you play?
I am pretty active and try to do something every day. I practice yoga and am a certified chair yoga instructor. I love to walk and walk anywhere/anytime, NYC being at my doorstep and with someone to share is even better.I am a “closet” vegetarian meaning I prefer vegetables and such but every now and then have fish/chicken (2x a year I eat lamb-love lamb). I am “midway moderate” when it comes to food choice, but liberal in my politics.
I like challenges (crave?) and always searching for them. Went to grad school for 2nd Masters. Graduated age 50ish - became unemployed.
Then took up art quilting seriously. Became employed again.
Couldn’t just run (started at 62), had to constantly do longer (and better, if I could) until I was pushed (challenged by my niece) to try to do the marathon (she dropped out because of an injury) I plugged on (and I do mean plugged). Did the NYC Marathon at 65. Now knee doctor says no more running.
I am an artist with a history in several media. Quilt artist (smaller art quilts for wall hanging). I have blown glass/oiled canvas/made furniture/printed from blocks etc. I am trying photography and currently designing and doing needlepoint.
Training to become a doula to accompany and comfort at the end of life (something like, but not exactly, hospice).
It would be wonderful to do all this and still learn so much more with a sharing and caring friend. So if you would like to join me for the ride, please let me know.
I love New York, but it is not the only great place to live, so I can very easily relocate if the stars align and everything is right.
