Can there be such a thing as a romantic lawyer?? There is—and that would be me. I recently came across a quote from Martin Buber, which struck a resonant chord (an eleventh commandment?)--"Thou shall not withhold yourself." I could drown myself in movies, food, travel and wine, but I want someone to explore the depths with. I love everything about movies and wine. Just as I've rarely seen a movie that does not have some reason to continue watching, I've rarely encountered a wine that could not teach me something about it. I love to travel and see new places and revisit old (bongiorno Italy) but need to do lots more. The most exotic place that I’ve ever been—Moldova. Not exactly your fashionable tourist destination, but the people—so wonderful! And—little known fact—a country that makes terrific wine. I also love music (all genres save rap) however find myself listening mostly to classical, jazz, blues or rock.. I go to concerts and ballet but can't seem to get into opera. I also like the outdoors--mountains, beaches--you name it.
I am so lucky to have my four children—2 in college and 2 in elementary. All very distinct personalities but they all get along famously and adore each other. They bring me great joy, comfort and pleasure. As well as endless and free entertainment.
My work—Government Contracts for the Commerce Department. Sounds dreadful, but it is a most interesting job. First of all, I’ve come to discover that there are endless ways to screw up a Government Contract. No Groundhog Days (or deskbound days) here. And the stuff I get to work on—dropped satellites and weather radar, climate and global change, planes that fly through hurricanes but that can’t fly because they’re filled with fire suppressant foam up to the cockpit, buoys that predict tsunamis, surveys that catalog our declining fish stock, smart grids, robotics and nanotechnology, supercomputers that predict hurricane tracks and intensity when the floor that they’re sitting on isn’t collapsing. Remember the handheld computers that didn’t work in the recent Census? That would be my contract. Or those $40 coupons the Government gave out to allow folks with “old fashioned” TVs to buy a converter to receive digital signals. Mine too. My job is a veritable (and completely unexpected) feast.
I'm a Scorpio with all of the good that that entails. Oh, did I neglect to add that I'm pretty introverted (but most of my acquaintances would not describe me so) and definitely have a sensitive side to me. My match should be someone who can be passionate and romantic. A touch can say more than words. A healthy sense of humor and sense of self are important too. She should be confident and have many interests. She wants to share her interests with me and to have me share mine with her. But it's also fine to have some of your own. Would that be you?
