I am a Reform Rabbi. I love Judaism, but I am not Kosher. I am also a Marriage Counselor.....but don't let that scare youaway.I just celebrated my 80th birthday by going white water rafting on the Tieton River with my son and grandson. My wife of 53 years and I loved the out of doors and camping in many places from Maine and Cape Cod to the Outer Banks of the Carolinas. When we got older we had a 10 by 14 cabin builton a stream in Andes New York. It had no electricity, no running water and no telephone. We called it Eden II. My other hobbies include chess, tennis, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, bridge, movies, reading and learning. I have season tickets to the Seattle Ballet, Opera and Concerts.When we get older we lose many things: friends, loved ones, memory, keys and what not. My personal way of dealing with lossis to find a way to laugh (usually at myself) and to go on living with strength. When I saw congregants sinking into depression because of loss, I would look for the right timeto say to them,"In life we only have 2 choices: to live until we die, or to die while we are still alive." To truly live we need love and companionship.
