About Me
History is a big passion of mine. I love going to the History Center, Snelling and other historical places around the state. Recently my friends and I have started going on trips to see different battlefields and historical locations around the US. Gettysburg and DC are currently planned for this summer! Which is awesome since I love to travel. I was lucky enough to spend my junior year in London, giving me the opportunity to see a lot of Europe and even make a trip out to Israel. I always make a point of going on at least one big trip a year, but love the little excursions here and there too. India and Africa are next on the list of places I'd like to go to.
I'm a bit of a homebody in the winter (definitely not a cold weather person), but love to be outside as much as I can in the summer. I enjoy going camping when I can find the time, as well as taking day-long hikes. Going for a walk around the lake with the dog or heading to the dog park for a few hours can be quite entertaining. Really, just about anything is great as long as its outside enjoying the weather.
Other random facts. I love doing activities with my dog, and am actually working towards a therapy team certification so we can go into nursing homes and hospitals. I love to cook, but my true calling is as a baker, often there is some sort of pastry around (needless to say, its made me quite popular at work). If I'm ever late for something, there is a good chance that its due to whatever book I'm reading at the moment. If I have 5 minutes to spare I'll start reading, and will inevitably get sucked in. I am terrified of frogs/toads and when at my moms will refuse to walk up to the front door because I KNOW there will be one hanging around waiting to jump at me :)
I consider myself to be fairly laid back, and avoid drama with as much grace as possible. All my friends know me to be that sympathetic ear and to have good incite and advice when needed. I love to laugh and can find humor in most situations, even if its at my own expense. Animals, kids and old people adore me (not sure why), but I think it might have something to do with this "old soul" that people tell me I have. I can get along with just about anyone, and have been told I am a genuinely nice person.
