I'm both serious and fun-loving. I can be really quite funny. I mean really funny. I teach at the university, follow politics and current events. After all, I teach about media and politics and such.
But I'm often also very serious, about those things that I believe are important and there's a lot that fits in that category. How people treat each other which I first published on nationally in the 1980s, and very acutely of late, global warming a topic that I speak about in various venues.
I have a big heart....very big. I look out for loved ones as well as strangers. I'd like to think that I'm a gentleman. I am also flawed, like any human being and I think I recognize a fair number of them and am working on them to be a better person. It's a never ending process.
I am passionate about everything I do and can't imagine doing much of anything without being passionate about it, but for doing taxes but even there I'm passionate about getting it the heck done.
I really like to know my partner well and talk about our inner lives.
I enjoy reading and movies. I've even done a little film reviewing back in the day, and have written a few books.
The first one was academic but well written, I think, and very well received, one a collection by media scholars from around the world, and the most recent based on interviews with leading creative folks in Hollywood.
I like blues a great deal. And classical, and jazz. Anything great and full of emotion and passion.
I've been in a number of rock and blues band (drums). I'm a bit of a movie buff and teach a few film classes at the university.
It's true that my picture is a little out of date but that's only because I haven't had a newer one to load.
If you like, and it seems like a good thing to do, I can send you a way to see various television appearances.
