I am passionate, spirited, bookish and wordly. I love dogs, I'm dynamic. I'm sexy. I'm intelligent. I'm sophisticated. I'm also a bit geeky, but in a good way. I'm often complimented on my smile. I can be ridiculously silly, then intensely serious. I love to laugh out loud, of the throwing my head back variety. I get out of bed and trip over a pile of books and three black labs. I'm avidly interested in politics and learning. I grew up near NYC, and miss it sometimes, so I need a dose from time to time, but there's a reason I moved to Vermont. I love the outdoors, the ocean, travel. I get itchy if too much time goes by and I haven't been on a plane, but I'm also a homebody. I love to cook, especially for others. I am very independent, need my own space, but also love being intimate, emotionally and physically. I love music, from opera to jazz to rock. I love kids. I believe in honesty, kindness, openness, charity and changing the world. I'm a big fan of Barack Obama. I'm not interested in becoming intertwined with someone, but I am looking for someone to spend some quality time with. I have been described as intense, but that intensity is a commitment to things I care about - my friends, my dogs, a better world. That last one sounds cheesy, I know, but I do get passionate about politics and some causes, and that's important to know about me. I have a good heart that I open to those close to me. I love to laugh, to be silly. I am a good joke teller, and I am also fond of bad puns. To borrow shamelessly and completely unauthorizedly (is that even a word?) from a friend, my sense of humor is "a Dorothy Parker-ish sense. The lacerating wit, the whiff of misanthropy, but with the arched eyebrow and the hint of a wink - that's you." I am passionate about many aspects of my life. I am a constant reader. I am a major history geek. I love to be outside taking advantage of all that Vermont has to offer. Since I grew up near New York City, and that influences who I am (there are no good bagels north of Westchester County. Don't even come near me with that yeast horror called Lender's. I will come after you with week-old lox). I love the New York Mets. Do I at least get a sympathy wink for that? This is our year, I swear. (The great thing about that line is it will always be relevant.) I also love the ocean and love to spend time walking or hunting for sea glass. I consider myself an intellectual. I love to learn and exercise my mind. I want a match who values me with all my foibles and eccentricities, just as I will value his. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. My favorite quote by my favorite person is "Life was meant to be lived." Want to live it with me?
