About Me
Please don't "hang up" just because there is no photo -- I am happy to send you one via email -- its just for professional reasons that I don't post it here. I will give you a basic visual idea first though so you don't start reading this thinking you are going to meet "the girl next door" (whoever she is) -- I am a thin woman with frizzy brown/grey hair (never dyed), no make up, and glasses. People often come up to me and tell me I look "so elegant," which I often find a little odd because I drive a pick up truck.....
Describing myself is not easy so I am going to describe my house and perhaps that will help convey something about me. The house is an 1840's Cambridge worker house. In the 1960's the previous owner put fake stone over the facade. I tore off the facade, tore out half the floor between the first and second floors so the living room is two stories high, I threw in a giant window on the facade so I can sit in my living room and see the entire tree across the street. My furniture is mostly old chairs and tables that I picked up when I lived in Asia. On the walls are a few abstract paintings from the 60's. The basement is wall to wall books with sections on poetry, architecture, Chinese history, Jewish history, humor, dictionaries, and a special section on books about books, another special section for books I have written, Does that help give you a sense of me? Probably not. Sorry.
This is how a good friend of mine describes me: A devoted friend, curious, calm, smart, open-minded, hardworking, humorous, funny, warm and creative, fun and a great cook.
