About Me
I'm a creative, compassionate, unpretentious, thoughtful and intelligent person. While I also have a professional education – actually in two very different fields – I am happiest as a hands-on “doer,” a musician, cook, baker, craftsperson, and gardener (mostly yard work and creating my own backyard perennial landscape). I gave up some years ago on my vegetable garden when the critters managed to eat more than I did no matter what I did to deter them. I'm very low maintenance and not materialistic. I can be quiet at first, but will open up more as I get to know you. I feel more comfortable socially in small to medium-size groups rather than big, loud parties. I’m definitely not a party girl, I’m more of an introvert than an extrovert, and would rather be in jeans any day of the week. I'm terrible at telling jokes, but am an appreciative audience.
I really like being on or near the water, especially the ocean, although I’d be happy in a kayak on a peaceful river. I grew up near a fishing harbor and not far from a truly beautiful beach, so the salty, fishy smell and screaming seagulls bring memories of home, hence my preference for the ocean. Just wear a hat near the gulls! I have two young adult children whom I love deeply and with whom I'm very close. They are a source of great pride.
For the record, my photo was taken earlier this year (2012).
