Freelance reporter and political humor writer by day. Masked-vigilante superhero by night. Small business owner in my spare time. I'm a free-spirited woman with a dry and sarcastic wit that I most likely learned from watching Monty Python as a child. I can be a downright cynic, but more often than not try to stay grounded in reality. I'm a tom-boy and a girly-girl in one. I'm very confident in my professional life, a bit shy in the dating world, and sensitive in my personal life. I am unapologetically stubborn and brutally honest. I don't believe in horoscopes/zodiac, but for the sake of those that find it interesting, I'm a Virgo. I do not sugar-coat, coddle or hold someone's hand just for the sake of sparing feelings. But, I will listen, hug and hold someone's hand when they need support. I am a behind-the-scenes political activist. I may have been "front-lines" in protests and rallies at one time, but now I organize and participate in less obvious ways. I'm an anomaly of sorts: I don't have cable or a dishwasher. I make much of my food from scratch. I still hand-write letters. Yet, I love (and crave) new technology. I have a cat who thinks he's a dog. I love discussing science, linguistics, religion and politics. And, I have a favorite bacteria and a favorite piece of punctuation. I have a massive book collection, and have read 99 percent of it. I also wake up early to read the news before I leave for work. I was raised Orthodox, have tried the Conservative movement and have finally landed in a religious realm I call "my own kind of Judaism." I've quit smoking so many times I've lost count. After the last attempt, I've become a "closet" smoker again - my family doesn't know. Perhaps someday I'll quit again. Fun fact #62: I roll my own cigarettes. I listen to NPR news religiously, and sometimes sit in my parking lot after I arrive home just to hear the end of a good story. I love midnight monster movies. I have seen almost every zombie movie to date, including Hard Rock Zombies. I have a political tattoo on my left inner wrist. I know the Jewish tradition and (interpretation of) law regarding tattoos. Despite begging from my mother, I have no intention of getting rid of it. I eat a mostly vegetarian diet just because I love vegetables. I have nothing against eating meat. I'm a true romantic. I love dark chocolate with sea salt. I cry at sad movies. I swear like a sailor, so the saying goes. I believe 100 percent that the Stanley Cup belongs in Detroit. We can still turn it around this year. I believe that the smell of autumn is the best smell in the world. I like cooler weather. I love snow. I am far from perfect - never will be perfect. Turns out, I'm only human.
