About Me

Hum... who am I? Well, I truly enjoy life's ironies and love to laugh. As a writer, I'm looking for another creative soul, but also someone who wants to spend a lifetime learning together. Right now, I'm finishing my first novel. (Epic fantasy - more on this if you’re interested) I am a member of a local critique workshop and a writing lab group. So writing is a huge part of my life, and I want someone to share that with. So what does this all mean? Smiles... I love good stories: books, T.V., movies, etc., are always fun topics of conversation, and I’m always up to seeing/reading something new. Suggestions are welcome, encouraged even. Sharing stories together can be very intimate. Just to give you a taste of my tastes--as far as books go, I’m a Stephen King, Neil Gaiman, Neil Stephenson, reader. More classically, I go in for Twain and Hemingway. Oh, and of course, Tolkien and George R. R. Martin, who’s probably the Tolstoy of modern fantasy. My movie tastes are all over the map--from Pulp Fiction to Donnie Darko from Dr. Strangelove and Blade Runner, to Batman Rises and Ted. (Nothing wrong with good dumb fun, and that’s exactly what Ted was.) My T.V. viewing is a little more limited, but I do like Jon Stewart (Yes, I can be a bit of a news junkie, but with a definite sense of humor about it. If you take it too seriously you’ll drive yourself nuts.) I also like Firefly, Game of Thrones (George Martin on the small screen, and oh, what a job they are doing!) Carnival, Twin Peaks, Rome, Sci-fi channel’s remake of BSG, and the new Sherlock’s from the BBC. Reality T.V.---not so much. On a slightly more serious side, I’m a fan of the Teaching Company’s Great Courses, and love conversations that range from philosophy and theology, history, a little bit of science--I’m not a math-head by any stretch of the imagination--anthrop ology, etc. Even here, you have to be able to get stupid with it. Otherwise, it’s too dry. So my tag-line is very accurate. I'm looking for my life-time best friend, partner, and playmate. Actually, I want to find someone where the conversation is ongoing, dynamic, rich, fun and ironic at times, and serious at others, where we can enjoy the comfort of our own silences, so long as they don't last forever. For me, sex is the outgrowth of the existing conversation, so I'm not really into one night stands, hook ups, or anything like that. I am a creature of feedback, brainstorming, pinging ideas off one another, even if they're stupid ideas. (The stupid ones are often the most fun) With the right person, I can do this pretty much forever. I'm hoping to find that person here. Thanks for peeking in. Hope to hear from you soon.
