Although I do put up “skyscrapers” I much prefer more down to earth activities like sky diving and bonge jumping (just kidding - I actually shy away from heights).
I am extremely comfortable with myself and upbeat about my situation in life. No Pollyanna, but glass typically half full. I feel in most ways that I have the best of many worlds - a lovely daughter (who I raised since age 4 – now 28), a warm and loving family, enduring long term friendships and past companionships with wonderful men. I am not, apparent from my participation on this site, engaged (figurative and literal) at this time and would welcome the pleasure that comes with being in a satisfying relationship.
I have come to learn, through several internet experiences, that there may be a certain degree of fluidity when it comes to what one considers facts. For the record, please know that the attached pics are current – all taken since fall 2011 – I have not put on any additional pounds or succumbed to an accelerated decrepitude – my age, not a target date, is as stated – my appearance and spirit relatively youthful, what you see truthfully represents the image I present.
My tastes in almost everything are eclectic. I enjoy being busy but am not driven or compelled to engage in constant activity (fully enjoy down time). My political attitudes are to the left of center, I consider a person's values of paramount importance (less so religion), and I am a non- addictive personality (but do enjoy a strong cup of coffee in the morning and a dollop of scotch at the end of the day). Most people find me sociable and easy to converse with. I can be nurturing and am reasonably capable (able to fix broken toilets, throw elegant dinner parties, cultivate lovely garden, participate without embarrassment in most popular sports, and suffer through navigation of the ever changing world of technology).
I have never considered myself to be a collector although in some respects I guess that I am. A friend once said to me that I am the only person they know who enjoys getting rid of possessions equally as well as acquiring new ones! I do not consider this to be exactly true as I hold onto things I that have an intrinsic value for me. At the same time, however, I do happily dispose of clutter!
While looking at secondhand books the other day I came across several I have always considered to be special. I couldn’t resist buying them, which led me to purge my home bookshelves of the books that do not continue to hold my interest. With future secondhand book browsing I intend to snap up the jewels and continue to part with the less special. In this way I hope to gradually create a very personalized library containing only those books I hold close to my heart.
I would be pleased to share with you any of the above - interests, thoughts, books or activities (except, perhaps, repair of toilets). Could be coupled with a smattering of dating’s requisite activities: roaring fireplace, stroll along moonlit beach, glass of champagne (actually, I prefer Malbec), and fine meal.
I would welcome the opportunity to chat. I’m tossing the ball into both our courts and will look forward to seeing where it goes. Point, game, set or maybe some other direction!
