About Me
I'm an educated, amusing, dry, sardonic, and kind. I love to talk, but more importantly, I love to listen.
Seriously.
I'm something of a romantic realist, but that can change. Sometimes I'm a realistic romantic.
For fun, I love to cycle around Portland, not knowing where I'm going to end up next. I usually do about 20 miles a day, but I train on a rowing machine and an elliptical in the winter. I am an experienced fly fisherman, and enjoy taking my Airstream out on trips.
I have published ten books by major publishers, have a demanding job that involves creativity, drawing, writing, and commentary. I do a lot of public speaking, and am always polite, even if I don't want to be. I enjoy public contact. I'm just dying to meet a woman who likes to entertain and have long conversations about anything.
Temperamentally, I am thoughtful, engaging, and am slow to rise to anger. I love to laugh and make observations about people and life. I consider myself an ironist in a cornball world. I hate the obvious or going along with the pack. I'm politically liberal and socially conscious, although I am surrounded by Intel engineers and trapped in the suburbs. I can be a bit angst-ridden, given my Norwegian and Swedish roots, but try to overcome it with humor. I take very good care of my three lovely children (two in college, one in high school), and they are nurtured and successful, no issue people. I have a lot of friends, am very chatty and sociable, and generally enjoy being around smart, engaged people.
Dopes, not so much.
I have a degree in history from an honors program, started a masters, and then bagged it.
I know my neighbors, own a nice home that is well-maintained, and I decorated it myself. Such as it is.
