About Me
I like people, mostly, and feel blessed that a good number seem to like me. Passionate at conversation, I'm also passionate about being in 'foreign' countries, learning and improving languages (of which I speak a few) and immersion in those cultures. I hope to continue being interested and interesting and to write about it all. I love bicycling and other vigorous outdoor activity, movies, music, the arts, civilization -- and did I say people? It's now three years since I lost my wife of 42 yrs. Of course I miss her, but mostly I'm overwhelmed with gratitude at being alive. She was too, and said so when she knew she was losing it -- among the great women. A successful marriage means one of you likely buries the other. Painful, but a good thing!
Last year I had my first romance of the new life. It taught me that I can still feel and am a flaming romantic, very sensual and loving. Now alas, it's over. I want to move on.
WARNING: At the moment, I'm living in Bolivia for six months to a year. For the moment, it will be a little awkward to invite you out for a cup of coffee if you're in California, but I'm coming back to Oakland every couple of months because my first grandchild was born there in January. I could meet you in the Bay Area early May when I'll be back for another visit. After that, who knows? I expect to settle there toward the end of 2013.
BTW - notice I misspelled "Norwegian"? Funny, nobody seems to have yet.
