Hi, thanks for reading this far! I converted with a Masorti/Conservative sponsoring Rabbi in a multi-year process that led to immersion 6/30/2011. I keep kosher by hechsher when possible, by ingredient when not, but if you're strictly observant I'm sure you'd be horrified at my not seeking out a K butcher etc. and I'm here at work in jeans, not a skirt. I will go to my A.A. meeting tonight (it's Friday) instead of K-Shabbat, I was doing K-S Fridays and Shabbat morning services but I need the A.A. just as much so I switch off Fridays, and say services at home instead - some Shabbat mornings too. I'm one of those silly people who try to pray 3x per day, starting with Modah Ani and a full Shacharit (no kaddishes, borchu or Torah reading) that takes me about an hour if I don't skip e.g. 146, 147, 149 etc. and a half hour if I just do Baruch Sheamar, Ashrey, 148,150, Yishtabach, Shema and blessings before and after, and the Amidah and Aleinu. I do it because I enjoy it, it helps get me centered, and... I think it's pretty, and primal - touches something inside me.
