About Me
so, i guess i'm something of a nerdy, outdoorsman/traveler , with some hippie'ish tendencies?
I grew up in Long Island, went to Penn, stayed in Philly a while to manage a pretty cool environmental program. i quit for various reasons, but mostly bc i wanted to travel the world. so i did that for 2 years, and have recently landed myself in Boulder to do a PhD in Economics. i'm interested in social justice, poverty, and whether consumption is really the true measure of human progress, to name a few things. 'professionally', i'm pretty passionate.
'personally', i'm a very simple, easy-going, chill guy. i try not to take myself or anything too seriously. i value simplicity and minimalism, and have little taste for luxury. i am generally more comfortable in third world villages than the western world but, while the buddhist in me wants nothing more than to live a simple and quiet life in the mountains, the jew in me feels obligated to serve a greater purpose. this juxtaposition prob sums me up pretty well.
i love to travel. i've been many places, but i hate being a tourist. i like to immerse myself, learn the culture and the language, to become part of the community. I also like to climb, ski, hike, camp, and all that other stuff. occasionally, i do like to push it and go big, but most of the time i like to take it easy, enjoy the day, and be safe. ultimately, its just an excuse to spend a day in connection with the Earth. and i LOVE to dance, but only if the music moves me, and also to cook (and have been told i'm pretty good at it)
i am a humanist. i believe in being honest at all times, with myself and others, doing the right thing, especially when no one's looking, treating others w respect, and doing my part, as best i understand it, in advancing the human race. i hope to find someone who shares these values.
