About Me
I am very comfortable with myself - six years after ending a long marriage.
I am close with my two children (ages 25/21) and enjoy spending time with friends - eating out, listening to live music, visiting museums. I also enjoy hanging out at my own home, listening to NPR, sometimes watching mindless TV shows - but I'm more likely to watch something on PBS or the Daily Show, Colbert Report - because I need to turn my brain off for a bit. I also read mystery novels for the same reason - but I like to think that I choose "highbrow" authors like PD James. I also enjoy reading the New Yorker - and investigating ideas on the web - sometimes for my work, sometimes because I'm curious about a topic and want to know more.
I am a vegetarian - but very tolerant of those who choose to eat meat. I like food from a wide variety of ethnicities, enjoy cooking same. Musical taste is eclectic - old rock 'n roll; jazz - standards and otherwise; some classical. I've learned a lot about newer artists from my children and the younger folks with whom I work.
My politics are very liberal and I was somewhat active in my younger days. I am passionate about my work in the field of education, which is inherently political these days.
I'm told I have an excellent sense of humor - can be on the "wicked" side. I try to save sarcasm for those who will be able to appreciate it rather than feel insulted.
I willingly go out of my way to be thoughtful and appreciate it when others do the same for me.
