About Me
I am a smart, highly energetic, and passionate woman. I am culturally Jewish, half Turkish Sephardic, & half Basque. Born in the Caribbean by geographical accident, my soul belongs to the Mediterranean, to the Italian hill country with its golden sunlight and Tuscan colors. I am a historian, trained in the Classics, and I teach college history.
Gardening fascinates me, both seeing and doing. I love “green,” parks, hills, trees and more trees….. I love walking, hiking, and cycling, exploring places, big cities & out of the way ones too. I love mountains, forests, the ocean, and sunsets. I love strolling the Appian Way on cobblestones amidst the pines of Rome. Hunting for treasure in antique shoppes, or in old world flea markets.
Museums are a spiritual need (the Met at least once a year) cuddling with a good book, zipping cappuccinos in the morning, reading newspapers, attending readings, historical conferences, and book fairs. I like new ideas.
