About Me

I'm enthusiastic and curious! I really love traveling--I just came back from a month in New Zealand, where I worked on a sheep farm! I've also backpacked around Europe, and I've done a couple smaller road trips around America and Costa Rica. I'm currently finishing up my Master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and the Environment at Iowa State. I am by nature a fiction writer, and am working on editing my first novel as my thesis so I can graduate this May, but I do write non fiction as well, when the situation warrants it. I got my undergraduate degree in Biology, Environmental Studies, and Creative Writing. I'm secretly really excited about botany and plant identification, which was really great in New Zealand because they have really cool plants, really cool trees that have evolved separately from the mainland for eons! Along with all the flightless birds, of course. So I had a great time going around, identifying all the trees, learning all the names. I'm also a huge dork--I love most things Joss Whedon--Firefly (of course), Buffy, Some Angel (come on, it just gets overworked there in seasons three and four). I'm a star trek fan, and a recent Dr. Who convert, although I haven't gotten through all the seasons yet, so DON'T TELL ME. I also really like Sherlock (the new BBC version), but it won't be back for a while. *sigh* I'm looking for a guy who's laid back but passionate about what he does, and willing to explore the world with me. Liking cats is a bonus, since I happen to have two gorgeous felines at home. Please say nice things about the whole species, along with cheesecake and bowling/skee ball. No need to apply if you're a smoker, or into drugs.
