I am a 66 year old widower, originally from NYC, where I was born and educated through undergraduate school. In 1972, fresh with a new Masters Degree, I moved to the DC area to take a job (why else?), and not sure if this is where I wanted to live. Some 40 years later, after getting married and raising two sons, I am still here and very likely to stay.
I am reasonably easy going, and enjoy a variety of activities that provide small and large pleasures. I never met a coffee shop I didn’t like, especially if there is time to read a book. Although I occasionally read serious materials such as politics and history, I strongly prefer “who do its”, historical based novels, and humor.
I can listen to and enjoy several types of music, but classical is at the top of the list, and opera at the bottom. Concerts/picnics at Wolf Trap are a particular favorite as they often combine both music and eating.
And speaking of eating, I enjoy virtually all cuisines, but do not often frequent Sushi restaurants.
Outdoor activities such as walks (but not hikes) through the woods on dog friendly trails (7 year old Golden Retriever), picnicking at a wooded lake site, strolls along a beach, viewing historical sites and interesting architectural examples, and the occasional baseball game would also count as favorite outdoor to dos.
In terms of religion I often attend services because it comforts me, but confess that I can’t quite take it as seriously as some of my friends do. My friends run the spectrum of religious beliefs among Jews, from cultural, to reform to conservative in their outlook.
If my friends were to describe my personality I believe (and hope) they would say, “nice guy with a good sense of humor”. Perhaps you would like to judge for yourself?
