Oh, life is a glorious cycle of song,
A medley of extemporanea
And love is a thing that can never go wrong
And I am Marie of Romania.
Greetings from Madison, Wis., the Athens of the Midwest, and home to evolved sensitive men (who will gladly sell you a bridge or Florida real estate)!
I'm 65 (how'd that happen?). I really don't look a day over 64. Somebody recently told me that I strongly resemble Larry David, which I take as a pretty, pretty good compliment. Or maybe he resembles me...
I'm a good-natured, self-effacing guy who's bright, funny, quick-witted, sentimental and literate. I'm a retired professional (as opposed to being a retired amateur). I like to think out of the box (but only if it's half-filled and, and if I'm not mixing my metaphors). I'm a good listener. I value creativity, intellect and laughter. Politics is extremely important to me I have liberal values and hope you do, too. I'm a devout atheist. If I believed in reincarnation, I'd want to come back as Gene Kelly or Steve Allen. My interests include woodworking and photography. I'm pretty good at both. I love to read, and I'm never without book. My literary tastes are all over the place: history, good fiction, foreign police procedurals. I exercise regularly, and want to stay fit as I age. I'm a NYT crossword puzzle addict (and I usually solve it in pen). I love to cook, bake (I do a pretty decent sourdough baguette). I like active vacations, biking, etc. I enjoy hiking in our national parks. I'm partial to people who can spell and avoid assaulting the English language (example: "awesome:" the Grand Canyon is awesome. Your new vacuum cleaner is not). I can dance (preferably to Motown), and I like jazz, and Brazilian music. Former disco instructor. I'm a fan of Marx, Lennon, Stan Freberg, George Carlin, and Randy Newman. Willing to be a kept man if you live in a warm climate (or a cold one, for that matter, if you're nice to meh), but, sorry, I won't do floors or windows.
