About Me

what's up? while i confess i am not exactly brand spanking new to jdate, i have never actually looked at another guy's profile, so i don't know the standard spiel. i'll just say that i'm a nice, agreeable, unassuming, intelligent, slightly nerdy jewish guy who can engage in a conversation on a lot of different things. i'm relatively new to boston, been here about a year. (before than, central NJ two years though and before that NYC for 8.) i moved to union sq and i'm happy about it. i like to keep active (running, a little bit of biking, gym-rock climbing when my friend talks me into it) but i'm not a about it (ooh - can i say that here?) i like to think that i have good taste in beer and movies, and like all of us nerdy jewish guys i've seen my share of sci fi shows and can name a few comic book characters. a long time ago i worked in the technology sector. fed up, i went to grad school for a doctorate in applied math, and now i am a researcher in the climate/earth science field, trying to understand what those ice sheets are doing. (i still get asked what that means. so to be less vague i study the movement of ice using computational fluid dynamics. if that sort of thing makes your eyes roll back in your head, we can just talk about Buffy.) **full disclosure** i have accepted a professorship at the U. of Edinburgh (scotland) and will be moving there in july. but this does not mean that i am not looking for something serious. one never knows where life will take them (case in point, my upcoming move). oh, and i'm just as comfortable in sweats as in a little black cocktail dress.
