As an architect and urban planner looking for a life’s companion, I submit this snapshot: Fulfillment for me includes the ability to return the attention, care, understanding and support of that “certain someone”. Community, family, and the give and take of family interaction are the highest of priorities. Although I don’t have children of my own, I would revel in the involvement of extended family and community. Inspired by Hillel, I try to remember his words: If I am not for myself, who will be? If I am only for myself, what am I? If not now, when? Ranking high on my favorite activity lists are exploring and cycling along scenic byways, back roads and through parkland near and far. I appreciate the natural environment and landscape, as well as the built environment; small towns, cities, urban and green open spaces. I find joy and exhilaration in the out of doors. For me, synergy occurs when my love for art, music and nature converges in an outdoor concert, when harmonizing with a choral group, or when dancing under the stars to a big band swing orchestra. I’m ready for my personal path to align with someone else’s and to move forward together, to enjoy life’s pleasures, as well as to help cushion life’s disappointments.
