About Me
Father, musician, and compassionate physician; artsy, cool, but maintaining some tradition. I am a 59-year old divorced father with joint custody of 2 daughters, aged 19 and 16. The older one is in second year at U-T and lives in a downtown dorm, while the younger one spends 3 out of 4 weekends with me, plus Thursday nights. They are both lovely, intelligent, beautiful girls, to whom I am very devoted; they bring me terrific "nachas" with a dash of (who would not admit?) adolescent angst. A medical doctor, I used to do cancer research in a specialized area known as "immuno-therapy" : I used bacteria to try to stimulate the patient's own immune system to recognize and fight the cancer. Having been burned by politics and venture capitalists, I returned to general practice and travel/tropical medicine 10 years ago, and practise in a medical building in Thornhill and in York Central Hospital. I am unpretentious with an excellent sense of humor. I am very musical (playing a few instruments), and love live theatre, especially musicals. I also love being in the country (having previously owned a chalet in the Laurentians north of Montreal). I am a Reconstructionist Jew, moderately observant, and say Kiddush with my daughters on Friday nights. My mother and late father lived for many years in Sarasota, Florida; my mother just moved back to Boston, where my sister also lives. I am very close to them and to extended family. Having been through a difficult divorce, I hope fervently to meet and marry a wonderful woman. I am extremely loving, devoted, and loyal to the loved ones in my life.
