Wow, 50 years old in September. I thought turning 50 would feel old, but it really only feels different. All my friends that have recently reached 50 report encouraging experiences and new life. What a wonderful way to approach this landmark.
The first time I came to Colorado was on a cross country road trip in 1993. Although we visited many states for the first time, it was obvious to me that Colorado was home. In 2005, I was able to realize the dream and move here permanently. The combination of the wilderness and urban activities is ideal for me and my interests, which include camping, hiking, and backpacking, as well as sporting events, culture and the arts. The liberal and creative minds of Boulder County are the perfect complement to the geographical diversity.
Love and relationships have always been challenging, especially through my 40s. My interest to meet women who have had similar experiences and views of the world bring me to this website. Several friends have had positive experiences here, and I tend to welcome new adventures. I maintain an open and curious approach to the world and my environment, and tend to avoid ‘boxed thinking’. That type of thinking seems quite limiting to me. Each turn in life has provided surprises and I do not want to miss them because they fall outside of my ‘box’ of expected events.
While I do not expect or require similar views in a potential partner, it is important for her to understand and accept my experiences and views. I will similarly honor hers. There is something to the idea of “opposites attract”, but there may be more lasting power in “similar views”. I am certain that some combination is ideal in a partnership. And I can think of no better word to describe what I hope to find than ‘partnership’. I am a big believer in Scott Peck’s, “The Road Less Traveled” as he describes life and marriage. If you are familiar with this work and believe in his ideas, or if you identify with anything else you have read, we should definitely connect.
