I'm a Michigander at heart. Although born in NYC, I was raised in Michigan with good 'ole Midwestern values. I love Ann Arbor (Go Blue!), Mackinac Island and Motown. I've also had the opportunity to live in Hotlanta, NashVegas and since June of 2009, I've happily called KC my home.
A little about me:
I think my friends would say that I'm kind, loyal, bubbly, ambitious, hard working and fun-loving. I love being outdoors. I like to walk, hike, ski and golf (...I would like to improve my game, as I've had to take the past few years off due to moves and grad school). I also like to garden (although I'm currently living in an apartment that doesn't even have a patio). I like to cook and try new restaurants. I love to travel, explore new places and learn about new cultures. I enjoy dabbling in photography and I especially like taking pictures of flowers. I like to support the arts and have season tickets to the KC Symphony. I also enjoy history and have recently begun learning about KC's past. If you haven't been on the KC Gangster tour, you should definitely check it out! :)
I'm passionate about improving our population's health and addressing our ailing health care system. This is the focus of my career. I am lucky to work for a company that is passionate about this as well.
I love my family and my dear friends. Thank goodness for cell phones, digital pics and skype - for they keep us connected, as we are scattered across the US. A few of my close friends have children now and I am proud to be their "Auntie Arielle!"
Ralph Waldo Emerson's poem entitled "Success" resonates strongly with me and how I strive to live my life:
To laugh often and much
to win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends
to appreciate beauty to find the best in others
to leave the world a bit better,
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition
to know even one life has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded.
So who is my ideal match?
I'm looking for my teammate my partner in crime! I'm independent and driven and I'm looking for someone who is as well. I also want him to be able to let loose, have fun, laugh and live life to the fullest with me. It is important for a couple to be able to intellectually challenge one another, fostering continual growth and learning in the relationship, as well as support one another through good times and bad. Family is extremely important to me. I look forward to having a family and making a home. I am looking for someone who shares these values.
