About Me

I’m fire-y. In a warm, generous, passionate way, not a burn your house down kind of way. Cross an affectionate lovebug and a spitfire sasspot and you'd get me (without calling it a lovepot. Please. Obviously.). My grandmother, in her endearing Lithuanian accent, used to whisper to me, "Mamehlah, you are an old soul with a young spirit." She was right. I am unpredictable at times in certain ways , but will always, predictably, opt for kindness, fun and empathy. I love throwing parties, coconut ice cream, Lillet Blanc, and Jameson on the rocks. I love going to foodie meccas for intricate towers of carefully arranged, organic grub, as much as grabbing a messy burger that makes your mind melt with deliciousness. I take care with the little things. My way of practicing Tikun Olam is to truly listen and be present for not only those I love, but strangers as well. I am unabashedly outgoing and friendly without reserve. But I also find moments of quiet and thoughtful introversion nourishing. Balance is my dear friend and I respect the journey to finding it. I seek the things in a conversation that others miss. Laughter is my favorite kind of music, especially if it is from the belly and accompanied by dancing. I enjoy getting to know people. This includes my adorable parents, my magical friends, and the lovely staff at the drycleaners. I of course stand up for the elderly on the train, but equally important, for anyone who looks like they've had a bad day. New York can be rough, and I try to add to the zinging, positive energy it can engender, not the deluge of stress it sometimes plows on. I stop to listen to jazz musicians in the park, even when I’m in a hurry. I’ve reached the point in my life where understanding myself and others comes before proving a point. I’m a great keeper of secrets. I’m wild about animals (dogs, dogs, dogs), and equally wild about vintage clothing (er...okay..shoes). I have little feet. I read a lot. Rilke’s Letters to a Young Poet is a personal bible, though I'm not unique in that, I don't think. I can’t stop thinking about it. Performing in the theater feels like home. I adore salsa dancing, and once upon a time, I did demonstrations at a salsa club in Florida. Along with being a professional dancer (musical theater, modern) I’m a published arts journalist. I’m fortunate to have interviewed living legends in my industry. I take risks, random photos, and dance class every day. I believe in our infinite potential for change and that kindess is never inappropriate. Most importantly, I’m a big fan of Love.
