Andy Cowan is an award-winning writer, producer and performer who has written for numerous television shows, including Cheers, Seinfeld and 3rd Rock From the Sun. He began his Hollywood career as a segment producer, writer and performer on The Merv Griffin Show during the ‘80s and interviewed hundreds of luminaries, from Orson Welles to Jerry Seinfeld. He went on to produce, write and host his Showtime CableACE award-winning 60 Minutes send-up, 6 Minutes, drawing praise from 60 Minutes’ own creator, Don Hewitt. Recently, his short comedy feature, Knocked Down, was an official selection in multiple film festivals, including the “Southeast New England Film, Music & Arts Festival,” where it won for Best Comedy.
He continues to write for more than 300 newspapers worldwide and recently taped his hour comedic talk show pilot: Another Talk Show! with Andy Cowan, featuring Jason Alexander and Sheila Raye Charles. After reading testimonials, member bios, and blog posts, I realized that if there were ever an opportunity for someone to write things that other people would actually read, I would have to be that guy. I can’t be the guy giving advice on how to talk to women. I also have no practicable guidance to give to any woman because A) I’m not a woman (I hope), and B) I have never said anything to any woman that ended pleasantly, adequately, or even tolerably. I can’t be the guy that tells you all of the common JDate Profile mistakes that I, hypocritically, have made myself. I have to be the guy that can tell you what not to do, think, and say to the opposite sex. My history of dating is a testament to this sentiment. Trust in what I don’t do. Hopefully, if people read what I write, both reader and I will learn something.
