Holiday Party Season: Your 2012 Survival Guide

Submitted by

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – holiday party season! Whether you’re headed to an intimate Hanukkah dinner with friends or a festive mega-party where tastemakers go to see and be seen (think SCHMOOZ-A-PALOOZA® at SLS Hotel Beverly Hills), there are a few things you need to remember in order to ensure you are the life of the holiday party. Here are my top six tips for having a fabulously festive time:

1. Dress to impress!

Don’t be afraid to have fun with your holiday style by adding an “ugly” sweater in the mix. I will be rocking my GeltFiend Borough Park Chanukah Sweater (I’m having a bit of a menswear moment) at SCHMOOZ on December 24th, as well as more intimate gatherings.

2. Take lots of pictures!

You know the saying, “Live for the nights you won’t remember with the friends you won’t forget?” Why not memorialize your evening by snapping a few pics? While iPhone pictures will work in a pinch, photobooths are always an easy and fun way to remember your night! Consider booking one for your festive fete. Or, if you live in LA, you can enjoy a campy, but oh-so-fun booth with props and prints to take home at SCHMOOZ-A-PALOOZA.

3. Dance that tuchus off!

Not only does dancing boost endorphins, but it’s a great way to release holiday stress and have a great time with friends. I will be getting down Bar/Bat Mitzvah style at SCHMOOZ with a dance floor that pays homage to the day that we all became men/women.

4. Indulge in holiday treats.

Make sure to keep your body nourished! With all of the dancing, chatting and photo-taking, you’re likely to build up quite an appetite. SCHMOOZERS in LA will nosh on MOEggrolls – a “Jewnese” kosher-style food truck with mouthwatering spins on the traditional Chinese eggroll. Hosting a holiday bash of your own? Don’t forget to include jelly donuts or latkes with your spread! And if you’re making your own latkes, here are a few fun toppers to add to your dish.

5. Have a chic place to crash.

Whether it be at your own pad, or hotel getaway, why not spend the holiday season in comfort and style? This year, SCHMOOZ ticketholders have the opportunity to snag a room at the world-famous SLS Hotel Beverly Hills at 25% off the regular rate! Talk about spreading some holiday cheer. Think about where you can stay and plan ahead — you don’t want to wind up crashing on your friend’s cousin’s couch, do you?

6. Safety First.

While you should definitely let loose and enjoy yourself with a cocktail (or three), make sure you always have a safe ride home! SCHMOOZ-A-PALOOZA party-goers will have the opportunity to save on an Uber ride to or from the SLS Hotel Beverly Hills on 12/24. If you don’t have a designated driver the next time you head out to a holiday hotspot, be sure to add the phone number for a taxi company to your cell phone before leaving your house. That why you won’t have to fumble with Google search results from your smartphone later in the night.

Here’s to spreading holiday cheer no matter where you go now through New Year’s Eve! Just follow my six easy tips and you can’t help but do just that. And if you live in LA, come party with me at SCHMOOZ-A-PALOOZA on 12/24. Have a safe and happy holiday!
