As a going-away present from my roommate and lifelong friend, she gifted me a subscription to JDate – she was convinced I would meet the love of my life in Arizona. I was a very hesitant JDate user. Coming from a vibrant Jewish city to the “wild west” was difficult. Eric sent me a very non-threatening email, saying he was interested in meeting more Jewish people his age. (JDate users – non-threatening and friendly was key!) After numerous forward courtship requests, I decided to give Eric a fighting chance as my first-ever JDate!
The story of these two meeting was truly one of fate. Jenna “Flirted” with Eric one afternoon in February. He responded by reaching out to her via email, and they met in person a week later. What they came to discover on their first date (a five-hour coffee date) was that they went to the same high school and had the same mutual friends, yet somehow never managed to cross paths during those four long years.
Mica ‘Flirted’ with me sometime in late September. Who would have known my life would never be the same. She was not a paying member at the time, but rather just “window shopping.” I immediately “Flirted” back with her, but like a ‘typical guy,’ I waited for the next step. She reached out to me via email and the rest is history. Incidentally, she talked to just one man via JDate… and it happened to be me.
It was two years ago toward the end of April when Claire came across Guy’s JDate profile and thought he was cute. She messaged him, thinking what have I got to lose? Another bad date?
What made our story successful was being 100% completely open with each other. Neither of us want to play games or wait around; we knew how we felt about one another and were very upfront about our feelings and our expectations.
It began with me searching through different JDate profiles when I came across Jennifer’s. I sent her a brief message in which I wrote that I liked her profile and wanted to see if she would to meet for coffee and get to know each other.
Shahrouz and Lauren first connected when Lauren came across an adorable JDate profile of a NY medical student from California and sent him a message. They chatted on JDate for a short while and he quickly asked for her number, skipping his dinner plans to call her.
All I can say to those still looking for “The One” is don’t give up! Do not judge somebody before you actually start to talk to them, because you will not get anywhere! Give everyone a chance and you may just end up meeting your best friend on JDate, as well as some pretty terrific friends on your journey to love!
The couple has now been happily married for over a year and they continue to fall more in love each day. They are so thankful that JDate (combined with Zac’s persistence) brought them together!
After many failed attempts, Robin (TerpsFan01) was going to take the plunge and join JDate now that she had moved back to D.C. She had just started editing her profile again. Unlike Robin, Brian (NotJustAnotherJew) had much success on JDate with three one-year (or longer) relationships from it under his belt.
