Online Personals Site Makes a Match of a Different Kind; A Donor Match

Los Angeles - (January 30, 2003) - JDate announced today that one of its members has made a life saving match.

JDate.com joined with the Gift of Life, a bone marrow registry facilitating transplants for patients worldwide in need of life-saving donors, and committed to encourage JDate.com members to register as donors and increase the representation of the Jewish people in the bone marrow donor pool. Tissue type is inherited, like eye or hair color and a patient's best chance of finding a genetic match lies with those of similar ethnic ancestry.

1,500 JDate.com members answered JDate.com's call to action and registered with The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry in order to save the lives of patients suffering from leukemia, lymphoma, aplastic anemia and a wide range of other life-threatening cancers, immune diseases and genetic disorders.

One of the newly registered JDate donors made the match of a lifetime and a successful transplant recently ensued. Due to confidentiality regulations, the identities of both donor and recipient may not be revealed however, provided both parties are in agreement, they may have the opportunity to meet one year after the transplant.

"As a transplant survivor myself, I can personally attest to the importance of this mission, and I applaud JDate.com for its work. I am proud to be a member of JDate, an organization that believes deeply in the importance of repairing the world (tikun olam). We look forward to continuing our life-saving partnership!" stated Jay Feinberg, Transplant Survivor and Founder of The Gift of Life Bone Marrow Registry.

"JDate.com has a unique policy in that we do not try to sell or market products to our over 500,000 members. Instead, we believe we can utilize the strength of our membership base and make a positive difference within the community. The Gift of Life is a perfect example of one of many successful "Giving Back to the Community" campaigns, stated Joe Shapira, JDate.com Founder.

Founded by Jay Feinberg, a transplant survivor, Gift of Life is a donor recruitment organization and registry facilitating transplants for patients worldwide in need of life-saving donors. You can learn more and register free online by visiting www.giftoflife.org.
