CHRISMUKKAH - A BAD IDEA
JDate Members Share Their Thoughts on Hannukah, Chrismukkah and the Holiday Season
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., December 20, 2005 - JDate, the leading Jewish online personals community, polled more than 900 of its members about several topics related to the holiday season.
- 71% celebrate only Hanukkah; 21% of JDate members celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas
- 65% of JDate members said Chrismukkah is a bad idea
- 83% believe the White House was correct to acknowledge a diversity of religions by sending "Holiday" cards
"According to JDate members, combining Christmas and Hanukkah into one holiday - Chrismukkah - would diminish the importance of both holidays," stated David Siminoff, chief executive officer of Spark Networks® plc, JDate's owner and operator. "Our members also believe the White House was correct to acknowledge a diversity of religions during the holiday season and did not think recent criticism of the White House, for sending "Holiday" cards as opposed to "Christmas" cards was justified."
