Adam & Laurel: Matched, Met, Married

Adam and Laurel met on JDate and spent weeks getting to know each other through messages and phone calls before meeting in person. Their first date was filled with conversation and laughter, and it quickly became clear they had a strong connection. Over time, their relationship deepened, leading to a thoughtful proposal in a scenic state park and a wedding celebrated with friends and family.

How did you meet? What was your first date like?
We met on JDate, and it took about a month for us to meet in person because Laurel was babysitting out of the country. We messaged and emailed back and forth until she returned. We then went on our first date at a restaurant called Rosie’s. We spent the entire time talking and laughing. After that date, we were inseparable.

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
Adam knew it was true love when he and Laurel ended a phone call and she forgot to say “I love you.” She immediately called back to say it and apologized for forgetting.

Laurel knew it was meant to be after the first date. She sat in her car and said to herself, “This is the man I’m supposed to be with.”

What can you tell us about the proposal?
We got engaged in May 2011. We were having lunch at a beautiful state park in Connecticut, looking at the reflection of a mountain in the lake. Adam was waiting for a group of teenage girls to leave so he could propose. Once they finally left, Adam popped the question, and Laurel said yes!

What can you tell us about the wedding?
Our wedding was in May 2013. We were surrounded by our friends and relatives. It had been raining all week, and we were hoping to have an outdoor ceremony. The rain stopped the morning of our wedding, and Adam and a couple of the groomsmen checked the grounds. Miraculously, the grass was not wet after three days of rain. The venue quickly had the grass cut, set up the chuppah, and we were able to get married outside. It was a beautiful time in our lives.

What advice would you give other JDate members who are still looking for love?
Don’t settle for anything less than what you deserve. Your person is out there, and you’ll know it when you find them.
