Dave and Marina met in Newport, KY, and immediately hit it off. Their first day together included sushi, laughter, and a movie night at home—a combination they lovingly call their “Three First Dates.” Their connection grew from that day into a life together, including a proposal in their new apartment and a joyful wedding surrounded by friends and family.
How did you meet? What was your first date like?
We met at a bar in Newport, KY, conveniently located for both of us (I was living in KY and Marina was in OH). We talked and laughed until Marina had to leave for class. We met later for sushi, and then we closed that place down, so we went back to Marina’s place and watched Anchorman! We lovingly refer to that day and night as our “Three First Dates.”
Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
Seeing Marina with my core friend group and realizing she fit into my life so perfectly. That, and her smile with her hugs—it was just the best.
What can you tell us about the proposal?
I proposed on June 1, when we moved into our new apartment together. It was our first happy memory in our new place!
What can you tell us about the wedding?
It was a blast! All of our friends and family were there for a big, classic day of celebration with drinks and dancing. Both of our childhood rabbis officiated.
What advice would you give other JDate members who are still looking for love?
There’s Jewish love out there for those who want and need it. I am so happy with our Jewish life and our Jewish home, and I owe so much to JDate for our amazingly blessed life together.
