David & Beth: A Proposal with a Barricade Twist

 David and Beth

How did you meet? What was your first date like?
We immediately hit it off. We talked about everything, including the upcoming adoption of what would become our second daughter. At the end of the night, I walked her to her car and asked for a kiss.

Describe the moment you knew it was true love!
We have a quirky sense of humor—we sing old song lyrics together, finishing each other’s lines and punchlines. I realized it was love when I noticed that, despite being opposite personality types, we fit together perfectly.

What can you tell us about the proposal?
I closed down our street and had my friends set up a construction scene. My daughter and I dressed up in construction outfits. Beth drove right through the barricade, and I had to run down the street and tap on her car window to say, “It’s going down now.” My daughter asked if Daddy could ask her a question, and that’s when I proposed.

What can you tell us about the wedding?
We had about 200 people outside at a gorgeous hotel, and our dog was part of the ceremony too. It was a truly special day.

What advice would you give other JDate members who are still looking for love?
Stay patient and be real. The truth is, love is out there.
